Brown Advisory Welcomes Brian Vahaly as Senior Advisor in its Washington, D.C. Office

WASHINGTON, DC – Brown Advisory, a private and independent investment management and strategic advisory firm, is pleased to announce the addition of Brian Vahaly to its Washington, D.C. office. With more than 20 years of experience in leadership, financial management, and strategic planning, Brian brings a unique set of skills that will enhance the firm’s ability to deliver thoughtful, impactful advice to clients.

In addition to his role at the firm, Brian will continue as Chairman of the Board and President of the United States Tennis Association (USTA), where he oversees the organization’s initiatives, including its management of the US Open Championships, the largest annual sporting event in the world. A position he has held since January of 2025 after serving on the board for 11 years. The USTA has contributed to a 30% increase in tennis participation in the U.S. over the past five years, reflecting the organization’s ongoing success in growing the sport nationwide.

Brian also has deep experience in the private equity sector, with a proven track record of leading high-growth companies. As Chief Operating Officer at NextGen Venture Partners, Brian played an instrumental role in scaling the firm, which was acquired by Brown Advisory in 2017. After the acquisition, Brian became a client of the firm, experiencing firsthand the strategic guidance that Brown Advisory provides. "Having worked with Brown Advisory as a client for several years, I have seen firsthand the exceptional value the firm brings to its clients," said Brian. "I’m thrilled to now have the opportunity to contribute to their continued success as a member of the team."

Doug Godine, Head of Private Client Business Development at Brown Advisory, comments "Brian’s decision to join us speaks to the type of colleagues we seek to attract—strategic thinkers with a broad range of expertise and an exceptional network. His experience and leadership will enable us to partner even more effectively with clients to achieve their personal, business, and financial goals."

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Brian remains deeply involved in his community. He serves on the Boards of Directors for both the Washington National Cathedral and Cavalier Futures. He also founded the Brighter Future Foundation in Atlanta, GA, which has raised substantial funds to support education and tennis programs for underserved youth in Georgia.

"Brian’s commitment to community leadership and his strategic vision align perfectly with our values," said Dan Glading, Head of Brown Advisory’s Washington, D.C. office. "At Brown Advisory, we are dedicated to making a positive impact on both our clients and the communities we serve.
