Jon Hale, Ph.D., CFA, is a recognized expert in the field of sustainable investing. In 2018, Jon was named to Barron's list of the 20 most influential people in ESG investing and was a member of the magazine's sustainable investing roundtable. In 2019, he was included in Investment News' 10 leaders in ESG & Impact investing. In 2023, Jon was named to the Top 50 ESG Influencers to Follow by Onalytica. Jon writes and speaks regularly about sustainable investing, and advises and works on special projects.
Formerly Global Head of Sustainability Research at Morningstar, Jon headed the development of the Morningstar Sustainability Rating and the Low Carbon designation for funds and directed the company's research initiatives on sustainable investing. Prior to that, he served in a number of capacities at Morningstar, including director of manager research, portfolio manager for Morningstar Investment Management, and mutual fund analyst. Jon was a senior associate for Domini Social Investments in 2000-2001. Jon holds a doctorate in political science from Indiana University.
