RICHMOND, VA — Brown Advisory, a global, private and independent investment management and strategic advisory firm, is proud to announce that Jay Moore has joined as a partner and senior advisor in Richmond.

Mr. Moore, a long-time Virginian, joins Brown Advisory after an extensive career in the Richmond area. Prior to joining the firm, Jay was the founder and owner of T.J. Moore PLC, an independent strategic advisory firm providing financial and legal advice for privately-held businesses, families and entrepreneurs. He currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Cupron, Inc, and previously served as interim general counsel of Kaleo, a middle market medical device company. Additionally, he works with several family offices. Prior to forming his own firm, Mr. Moore was Senior Vice President of Strategy and Business Development for Altria Group Inc., parent company of Philip Morris.

For most of his career Mr. Moore was a partner at Hunton Andrews Kurth where he specialized in M&A, private equity and corporate counsel to privately-owned businesses. During his tenure at the firm, Jay served in a number of leadership roles including managing partner of the Richmond office, member of the Executive Committee and head of the Corporate Team.

Jay received his JD/MBA from the University of Virginia, School of Law and Darden School of Business and holds a BA from Princeton University. Mr. Moore is very active in the Richmond area, having membership on a number of boards and associations. He currently serves on the board of The Virginia Foundation for Independent Colleges, ReWork and The Scott Foundation. Previously he served on the board of the Business Roundtable, Greater Richmond Partnership, The Richmond Chamber of Commerce and St. Christopher’s School.
